My art is mostly pen and ink. I work spontaneously with shapes and lines, that before long suggest themselves in a unique and dynamic spur-of-the-moment process. Next, these possibilities are developed to their fullest enhancements, stressing movement, continuity and balance. My goal is to create an environment that allows the eye to wander without purpose or plan. As the observer moves freely through the work one begins to perceive greater depth within the piece. This journey through shapes and colors allows the viewer to create their own uniquely personal meaning, moving ever closer to a sense of inner self. Only when merging deeper into the work can one experience the sometimes emotional and cathartic aspects of art. This is the true significance of the word “work” in the term: artwork. The artist and the viewer are creating an experience together to arrive at meaning in the art piece. Through this process, the aggravations and challenges of daily life can take a breather. And, for a time, you are transported deeper and deeper into the splendor of your own inner being. And, as you come closer to that inner place, you can be transformed, if only for a moment.
